National training seminar for UNESCO bodies held Staff Reporter GUWAHATI, Jan 17 – At the initiative of Confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India (CUCAI), the UNESCO Association, Guwahati had organised a three-day national training seminar for the selected leaders of UNESCO clubs and associations in India at NIRD, Khanapara from January 8.
Topics related to global warming and climate change, media and its role in development of society, cultural heritage, education, sustainable development, HIV/AIDS, human rights and Right to Information were discussed at the seminar, a press release from the UNESCO Association, Guwahati said.
The three-day seminar was inaugurated by Dhirendra Bhatnagar, secretary general, CUCAI. Former Minister Biraj Sarma, DN Saikia, member, Assam Police Accountability Commission, RK Bora, senior IAS officer and M Jain, director of NIRD were the other distinguished persons who deliberated on the occasion.
The seminar was also attended by around 60 UNESCO clubs and associations representing all the States of India. The leaders of the respective clubs and association appraised the gathering about the status of their activities.
The delegations had also visited the North East Hill University campus in Shillong on January 10, besides the UNESCO/UN Publications Reading Library at District Library, Guwahati, the press release added.
