Training on food processing GUWAHATI, Jan 17 – Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Assam Engineering College, Guwahati recently organised a weeklong skill development programme on food processing for local women.
In the inaugural function, Dr Damodar Agarwal, coordinator, EDC and Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, AEC, highlighted the need for self-employment among women, and expressed hope that such programmes would go a long way in meeting this need. Dr Bibha Das Saikia, chairman, EDC and principal, AEC was also present in the inaugural meeting.
Altogether 40 women participated in the programme, 13 of whom were from State Home.
Malamoni Hazarika, Prop Kamdhenu Industry, Guwahati (a food processing unit), and a national award winner took part as expert in the programme. Methods of preparation of various jams, jellies, pickles, juices, and sauces were taught with practical hands-on-training, stated a press release.
