Centre lauds Arunachal Govt for lighting up border villages

 ITANAGAR, Jan 10 – The Centre has hailed the Arunachal Pradesh Government for effective implementation of the Border Village Illumination Programme under the Prime Minister’s package in the State. Dr NP Singh, adviser to Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), who had a meeting with Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu here disclosed this.

Besides appreciating the Chief Minister for his committed effort for all round development of this tribal State, the Central Government official expressed his satisfaction over the work on Border Village Illumination Programme (BVIP), being carried out in the State.

It requires a mention here that the State Government had proposed a package of Rs 85 crore under the Border Villages Illumination Programme to the Centre for bringing up mini hydel projects of 50 KW to 2 MW in the border areas to illuminate the far-flung villages. Later, during his historic visit to the State, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had announced the package.

Assuring judicious utilization of fund provided by the Centre, Khandu apprised the visiting dignitary of the maintenance of strict vigilance and monitoring of all central as well as State sponsored schemes. “A team of special officers have been constituted for monitoring the ongoing projects in the state and they are effectively on the job,” Khandu said. To maintain transparency, all required information are being uploaded in the State website on regular basis, he added.

Later, the MNRE Advisor Dr Singh, who was accompanied by DR Das, Director & Head of Regional Office of MNRE, Guwahati had a review meeting on the schemes taken under the PM’s package with the State Government officials. He asked the officials to submit the detailed project-wise status to the Ministry within a period of 15 days.
