Nepali Sahitya Parishad meet begins today

 MUSHALPUR, Jan 7 – The 35th annual conference of Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Asom will be held at Anurag Pradan Khetra, Maligaon from January 8 to 11. The last executive meeting of the committee will be held at 6 pm on January 8. The delegate meeting to be held at 5.30 pm on January 9 will be inaugurated by Geeta Upadhyaya former president, NSP, Asom. Tikarm Upadhyaya (Nirbhik), president, NSP central committee and a host of distinguished personalities from different fields will hoist the parishad flag at 8.30 am on January 10.

Pradip Saloi, senior SP, Guwahati will take salute of march past after flag hoisting ceremony. Krishna Bhujel, working president, reception committee will lead the smriti tarpan programme.

Dr TB Subba, head of the department of Anthropology, NEHU, Dr Nani Gopal Mahanta, Prof department of Political Science, GU Dr Samujjal Bhattacharyya, president, NESO, Munish Tamang, Prof department of English, Delhi University, Manoj Kumar Goswami, noted journalist and Purushottam Bhandary, lecturer, Jagiroad College will attend the seminar on "The socio-economic and political status of Nepalis/Gorkhalis of North East India in special reference to Assam" to be held at Rang Bhawan, Anurag Pradhan Khetra at 10.30 am on January 10 as resource persons. Chandra Mohan Patowary, leader of the opposition, Assam Legislative Assembly will inaugurate the seminar which will be conducted by Dr Sivanath Sarma, department of Philosophy, GU and presided over by Prof Joynarayan Luitel.

Pitambar Gurung, president, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha, Assam State committee will inaugurate the main stage while Rotarian Arun Sarma will inaugurate the cultural competition. Dr Jiban Namdung, convenor, Sahitya Academy will preside over and Dr Bhim Kanta Upadhyaya, Prof North Bengal University will conduct the multi-lingual poem recitation programme of Sahitya Academy to be held at the conference venue with Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, eminent journalist as the inaugurator.

Noted poets from across the country will grace the poet meet. Mayur Talukdar from Khabar will inaugurate and Dr Jamadagni Upadhyaya, working president, NSP, Asom will conduct the felicitation and book release programme to be held under the chairmanship of Juddhabir Rana, noted artist and author where personalities from different fields will be feted. This will be followed by cultural evening and second delegate meet.

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Health Minister, will inaugurate the cultural rally on January 11. Dr Akhil Kumar Medhi, VC, Gauhati University will inaugurate the open session to be held under the chairmanship of Tikaram Upadhyaya (Nirbhik). Naba Sapkota, newly elected president, NSP, Asom will light the lamp. Padmashri Nilmani Phukan will address the session as the chief guest while Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Tanka Bahadur Rai, speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly and Padma Bibhushan Danny Dendzongpa, film artist will grace the session as distinguished guests. Besides, Hagrama Mohilary, BTC chief, CK Shrestha, working president, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha, Padmashri Baichung Bhutia, Kanaksen Deka, president, Asam Sahitya Sabha, Kameswar Brahama, president, Boro Sahitya Sabha and a host of distinguished personalities will grace the session as guests of honour.
