Pay fixation
Sir, Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to highlight the injustice done to the employees of Assam Government by the Pay Commission in respect of fixation of pay. It is observed that for fixation of pay scale, the existing pay is multiplied by the factor 1.86. By doing this State Government employees are given only pre revised Central pay scale of 1996. If the existing pay scale of State Government employees is multiplied by 1.86 factor, it will just upgrade the scale to the pre revised Central pay scale implemented in 1996. If that upgraded scale is again multiplied by the factor 1.86 then only it will give pay parity with the Central Government pay structure of 2008.

In the proposed pay scale a State government employee serving for 18 years in the Rs 4390 scale will get less pay than the new entrant in the same class in the Central Government. Yours etc., Dr Sankar Sarma, Guwahati.
