Fish farmers in Dibrugarh apprised of Govt schemes

 DIBRUGARH, Dec 16 – Hundreds of farmers participated in an awareness programme on pisciculture at Borborooah development block on Tuesday.

The farmers listened to lectures from fishery experts on various aspects of pisciculture and its importance in economic development of the rural masses.

The awareness programme inaugurated by Amiya Chetia Phukan, the vice president of Anchalik Panchayat was presided over by Shankar Oraon, president, Anchalik Panchayat. District Fishery Development Officer, Durgeshwar Doley highlighted various government schemes and called upon the farmers to take up pisciculture for self employment as well as for preservation of much valued local fish.

He stressed on the scientic method of pisciculture for high production and best preservation.

Among others, District Agriculture Officer Nareshwar Deori, Extension Officer of fishery department Thanuram Phukan also spoke on the subjects.

Anomalies alleged: Largescale anomalies in capital assets of office furniture has been alleged in the Instrumentation department of Oil India Limited (OIL), Duliajan.

Some 20 pairs of desks and benches with full mica sheets have gone missing from a 50-seat capacity class room of the Department, a press release stated.

The furniture purchased under OIL Job No. 45/1898 and asset No. NK 8110 were used by chief engineers for lectures amongst technical employees. The furnitures were missing after the classroom got converted into an executive sitting room, the relase added.

In this connection, the the role of the Oil audit department has also been questioned. A section of the work men assume that the furniture might have been deleted from the inventory list of capital asset. Although workmen of the department have raised eyebrows, no enquiry has been initiated by the concerned officials to trace out the missing furniture.
