100-hr Lower Subansiri Dam material supply blockade from today Correspondent SILAPATHAR, Dec 1 All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), Dhemaji district committee have called a 100-hr Lower Subansiri, NHPC Dam construction material supply blockade programme from 6 am tomorrow in protest against the dam construction at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district and demanding to secure the lives and properties of people living downstream of river. The AASU and TMPK have also decided to continue their democratic movement till the publishing of the report of preliminary report and final report by the expert committee.
Both the organisations have jointly taken up several programmes against the dam so far. As a part of democratic movement, the organisation has taken up the 100-hr dam construction material supply blockade programme. This was announced in a press meet at Silapathar Veteran Ameatur Athletic Office on November 30.
In the press meet, the activists of both the organisations Arnold Taye, literary secretary, AASU and Tilak Doley, organising secretary TMPK, Chitraranjan Basumatary, president, Dhemaji district AASU and several others of Mising Mimas Kebang warned the State government and NHPC authorities for not taking up suitable measures and criticised the State government for going ahead with the dam construction.
