Five drinking water projects inaugurated in Sivasagar subdivision

 SIVASAGAR, Aug 13 – Minister of Public Health Engineering, Rihan Daimary recently inaugurated five drinking water projects in Sivasagar sub division. The projects built at a total cost of Rs 2.73 crore will bring much relief to the people of the region facing acute shortage of potable water.

The Minister addressing a meeting held on the occasion at Dhanekhowa in Dikhowmukh on August 8, said that 400 PHC drinking water projects have been revived out of a total of 900 damaged and non functional units in the State.

He also called upon the people to participate in the development works initiated by the Government and at the same time take a share of responsibility of running these projects.

The Minister said that 30000 individual houses in the district will have sanitary latrines during the next year under the Total Sanitation Programme. It was also attended by NM Hussain, DC, Sivasagar, S Laskar, Chief Engineer, Nakul Gogoi, Addl Chief Engineer and Dilip Das, SE, Sivasagar.

Former Minister, Transport, Anjan Dutta in his address said that Rihan Daimary as a minister has done a lot to revive the sector. The other projects inaugurated by the minister are Chunpora Habi (Rs 48.61 lakh), Gayan Gaon (Rs 31.5 lakh), Nagalamora (Rs 62.6 lakh), Kowamora( Rs 62.37 lakh).
