Central study team visits Patacharkuchi GP Correspondent PATACHARKUCHI, Aug 3 A Central Government team, comprising Vishal Sarma, Aditya Khanna and Barun Bhutani, accompanying as empowerment study team of Panchayati Raj, visited 125 No. Patacharkuchi gaon panchayat office on July 21.
The team discussed various schemes of panchayat, like IAY, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), NREGA, BRGF, etc. The BDO of Bajali development block Dr M Saikia and Bimal Bhagabati, JE of the block, were also present at the time of the official visit. The team advised inclusion of other government schemes as well, considering the demand and collective welfare of the local people.
In the evening, the empowerment study team attended a gram sabha at Gobindapur LP School. Hitesh Goswami, president of Patacharkuchi GP, was in chair. Besides the team, the gram sabha was attended by various panchayat representatives like Dilip Barua, vice-chairman of Barpeta Zila Parishad, Tarun Kalita and other officials of the block, including leading citizens Mathura Mohan Goswami and Bhuban Goswami, president and secretary of Gobindapur Satra committee. About 200 villagers attended the meeting and shared their views and feelings. The empowerment study team was accorded a warm felicitation by the GP vice-president and secretary.
The attending public demanded before the team to make arrangements for issue of birth and death certificates, physically handicapped certificates, ST, SC and OBC certificates, income certificates, APL and BPL ration cards, trade licence through gaon panchayats.
The public further demanded paying of electricity and telephone bills through gaon panchayats, steps for wide publicity of various panchayat schemes, facility for issue of job cards in GP office, release of funds under NREGA in proper time and on the basis of labour budget, increasing the amount of current IAY rate from Rs 38,500 to a higher amount and old age pension amount from 200 pm to higher amount, resurvey of BPL wait list, besides reintroduction of SGRY scheme.
The people also demanded preparation of list of national benefit scheme under the gaon panchayat and expressed satisfaction in the works executed by the GP and demanded more service and benefit from the GP and assured to cooperation in implementing schemes.
The central team visited only Barpeta district, ie, Mandia block and Bajali block. Further, they visited Patacharkuchi GP and Bajali development block.
