Angry journalist
Sir, – It is very painful that one Jarnal Singh, who is a Staff Reporter of a daily hurdled his shoe at P Chidambaram who was holding a Press meet, to express his anger against the clean chit given by CBI to Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar allegedly involved in 1984 Sikh riots. The submission of final report is not the end of the case. The matter could have been fought in the Court instead of exposing the Home Minister in such a manner. We stand behind the victims of 1984 riots and demand punishment of the persons involved in the mass killing of innocent people of Delhi on October 31, 1984, but we cannot support the expression of anger by hurling shoe at the Home Minister. This is a very bad precedent in the field of Indian journalism. Jarnal Singh has the pen of his hand and he could focus his anger through his newspaper. I really appreciate the greatness showed by our Home Minister by forgiving Jarnal Singh, who was all along very cool and did not express any anger. Yours etc., Subhash Chandra Biswas, Guwahati.
