Innovative work
 One of the most popular and sought Khirod Sarmaafter video film directors in Assam, Jadumani Dutta has now made a name for himself with a series of Bihu-based video films to his credit, replete with drama, traditional songs and colourful dances, which hit the market on the eve of Rongali Bihu every year. Amongst his video films, Rongamoni stands out as his most original and innovative piece of work. The video film, with a story-script by Dipak Gogoi, has popular veteran and contemporary artistes like Bishnu Khargharia, Raag Oinitom, Rimpi Das, Tanvi Sarma, Ramen Tamuli, etc, besides Khirod Sarma making a mark in a special role tailor made for him.

Since the 1990s, popular comedian Khirod Sarma has appeared in a number of roles on amateur stage, AIR, enacting a variety of roles in serials and telefilms on Guwahati Doordarshan, a sizeable number of video films, besides making his presence felt in a number of feature films like Railor Alir Dubori Bon, Jugantarar Tezal Puwa, Bisphoran, Mon, Eti Koli Duti Paat, Kokadeutar Ghar Jowai, Maa Tumi Ananya, Astaraag, Aghari Atma, etc. But Rongamoni is his first Bihu-based video film. This experienced and talented comic artiste is now all set to begin a new phase of his acting career with renewed endeavour and talks are on with a number of filmmakers.
 
Satriya recital
 Upcoming danseuse Kakali Pathak recently gave a scintillating display of Satriya dance at Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati. Billed ‘Sadhana Darpan’, the dance evening was a rare experience for lovers of the rich Satriya culture as Kakali presented four items in just over one and half hours, keeping the audience engrossed.

In her first item Sutradhari Nach itself, she displayed her stamp of authority on this classical dance form as she continued her rhythmic journey in a polished way, following with Bhojan Behar, Raghukula Nandan Ram and Gunamala Gunjana. The overall direction of the programme was by her Guru Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami, while Murari Sarma provided the music.
 
Mon Dilu Tomak
 After a long break of seven years, musician Bul Saikia, along with Manjit Borthakur, a singer who has won many a laurel at college and university levels, besides featuring in several audio albums, is readying their newest Assamese modern song album Mon Dilu Tomak. Also a fine guitarist, Bul has been associated with the Assamese music industry since 1991 and his Bihu album Sarubhani in the early 1990s was a huge hit.

Mon Dilu Tomak, the recording of which was done at Temptation Studio of Rajgarh, Guwahati recently, will hit the market soon. It has music by Anupam Saikia, with lyrics penned by Apurba Bezbarua, Bishnukanta Doley, Bul and Manjit. Jyoti Dihingia is the third singer in the album.
 
Doordarshan serial Jeevan Jatra
 A new serial Jeevan A still from Jeevan JatraJatra, with lilting and traditional Goalparia and various other Asssamese folk-based songs in complete conjunction with the story, made its debut on Guwahati Doordarshan from September 20 at the 7:30 pm evening slot. The Goalparia folk songs are being rendered by popular singer Bina Das Borthakur and music is arranged by Rajkumar Ravi Das.

The serial, based on a story concerning two sisters, is being produced by Basanta-Boby. The serial is also directed by them. The serial’s story, script and dialogue are by Pabitra Kumar Deka and Boby Sarma Barua. The technical adviser is Kishore Sagar. It has music by Piju. The theme song’s lyrics, tune and vocals are by Mousam Gogoi. Choreography is by Bappa Ahmed and Uday Shankar. Videography is by Himangshu Barman. The artistes are Lakhi Borthakur, Pratibha Choudhury, Lipika Bora Medhi, Moon Borkotoky, Basanta Barua, Bijit Deva Choudhury, Manmath Barua, Pallabi Borthakur, Garima Mazumdar, Sulakshana Barua, Kuhishri Das, Hirok Jyoti Das, Niren Saikia, etc.
