Classical evening
It rarely happens in sleepy townships like Morigaon. The newly-formed Society for Promotion of Creative Art, Morigaon (SP-CAM) organised a cultural show of classical music recently at Morigaon Kala Bithika. The atmosphere inside the hall was filled with enchanting ragas and talas as artistes came up with colourful performances.

While internationally-acclaimed artiste Manoj Barua enthralled the audience with Raga Kirwani on the violin, Paban Bordoloi, Ritam and Monimugdha created a sonata of tala on the tabla. The other artistes of the cultural evening were Bhupen Nath, who presented Raga Madhuwanti and a thumri, and Parismita Goswami who presented a Borgeet to mesmerise the gathering with their vocal renditions.

The SP-CAM members, especially chief convenor Apurba Kumar Phukan, who is the deputy commissioner of Morigaon, and convenor Krishna Boruah, (SDO) Sadar, deserve kudos for giving the people of Morigaon a rare treat of classical music. (Inputs by Dalim Phukan).
