
| Jiwan Bator Logori print ready The print of Jiwan Bator Logori, the much awaited Assamese feature film with a big budget and star-cast, is getting ready in Mumbai. Meanwhile, director Timothi Das Hanse has left for Mumbai to complete the works of mixing. The film, made in 35mm cinemascope, will also have Dolby sound and a print with English subtitles. The English subtitles are prepared by reputed journalist-critic Chandan Sarma. Most of the film is shot in the scenic locations of Karbi Anglong by cinematographer Sivanan Barua. The film is made under the banner of Hills Motion Picture of Diphu. The story, screenplay and dialogue are written by director Hanse, which carries an appealing theme with a message. |
| Satriya evening Young Satriya talent Mridusmita Das gave a soulful recital of this classical dance form at a solemn function at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati on June 14. Billed ‘Satriya Nrityar Esandhya’, the programme, held under the auspices of Guwahati city’s leading Satriya culture training school, Nartan Kala Kendra, also saw Mridusmita’s guru Ramkrishna Talukdar performing a composition on stage.Assam Government’s Culture Department’s secretary Swapnanil Barua, who inaugurated the Satriya evening, praised the young danseuse for bringing glory to the State by her performances across the country, and wished her good luck. Distinguished guests Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, Goutam Sarma, Dulal Roy, Sankar Prasad Kakati Bora, Ananda Mohan Bhagawati, BK Gohain, Ratna Ojah and Hiranya Bora were also felicitated on the occasion. Daughter of top State Transport Department official Dwijen Das, Mridusmita is also learning Bharatnatyam alongside Satriya, and is slated to perform at the India Habitat Centre, Delhi on July 7 with her guru. |
| Film courses Jyoti Chitraban Film and Television Institute has started the admission process for the academic session 2009-10. The institute offers three-year diploma courses in audiography, motion picture photography, film and video editing, and a one-year certificate course in applied acting (film and television). All these courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and affiliated to the State Council for Technical Education, Government of Assam. The last date for issuing and submission of application forms is June 30. |

| ATEU to observe Rabha Divas A three-day programme has been organised by the Assam Tribune Employees Union, which will include a seminar, painting, essay and music competitions, etc. The last date for joining in the music competition is June 22. The competition of Rabha songs will be held on June 26 for two sections. The essays should reach the organisers on or before June 23.
