THE Gorbatschow Mega Northeast
Designers’ Contest 2009, organized by Guwahati-based design house Kreative People at Kiranshree Portico hotel was a special awareness event against global warming. The unique show under the leadership of designer Prasantt Ghosh and beauty expert Bhanu Sharma showcased exquisite and colourful fabrics, hairstyles and designs in an array of creations and styles. The theme was presented through 15 top notch models from the region, articulated with hairstyles, dresses and make-up. There was also a special collection round by designer Shana.
The models first walked down the ramp in a range of electrifying colours with designs that dominated geometric motifs and ornamental floral weaves and an assortment of jardozi and thread work; followed by a ramp with gorgeous party wear in green, while beat music provided a high voltage to the round designed by Bhaskar, Chandismita and Trishna, who were also the winners of the show. The judges were Cyndy Khozal, model of the Boroplus ad from Mumbai, and Moonmoon Nath, fashion and textile designer. The special round by Prasantt and Bhanu featured models Sukalpa, Stuti, Kiran, Jaya, Santana and Santa presenting the exotic range of fabrics, designs and hairstyles that related to the theme global warming — ice meeting, pollution, etc — and finally, greenery.
Compered by Zenia and Arik Mazumdar, the show kept the viewers glued to their seats, while make-up artiste Pranav and Avinash gave all the models a touch of class. Kreative People deserves kudos for presenting such a vibrant and special evening which sure would remain etched in the memory of the gathering for years to come. Fish fair

WE at GATE (Guwahati Academy of Tertiary Education) institute strive towards total personality development of the students,” thus said institute director Swapna Dutta Hazarika while giving an idea about what the institute offers to the students for success in their career and life.
Besides this basic one-liner, we have a whole set of guidelines for the teaching faculty to adhere to and strive so that excellence is targeted, no matter what, she said, adding, “we have been constantly hitting our set targets through our innovative methodology which have immensely benefited the students to feel confident of their potential and what they can achieve in life with optimum use of their talent.”
The internship sessions during BBA course in reputed companies is a proof of that, and it has helped the students a lot in making them confident, the basic requirement for success in any field in life, the director added.
Let’s hope GATE achieves success with their innovative ideas in teaching.
