Golden hits
 Malabika Bora established herself as a singer of repute through the movies Faguni and Bowari, released during the late seventies. The music director of both the films was the late Upen Kakati. Since then, she has been lending her voice in many hit songs, including the ones in Ahir Bhairab. She has presented many albums of her songs before her fans.

Of late, she has brought out an album titled Golden hits of Malabika Bora, which contains thirty of her popular songs. She expects her fans to accept her latest offering with appreciation.
 
Ahir Bhairav at BFI
 Assamese feature film Ahir Bhairav, pro duced by Dr Ronen Sarma and directed by late Shiva Prasad Thakur, has been enlisted at the famous British Film Institute (BFI) in London, for safekeeping of the film permanently. The BFI authority will also arrange the viewing of the film to interested persons, particularly students and research fellows all over the world, who come to study films and television at the institute. It is welcome news that an Assamese film, along with a great collection of other films from around the world, is in the archive of the BFI. For more information, one can check on the BFI website. In a letter to the producer of the film Dr Sarma, the BFI wrote: “Dear Dr Sarma, your film sounds very interesting, and we would be happy to acquire a print for our collection”.
 
Herowa Phular Surabhi
 A new TV channel, Raftar 7 Television and Production was inaugurated on January 24 at Forest Gate, Narengi by veteran actor and cine-journalist Dilip Kumar Hazarika. On the occasion, an Assamese film titled Herowa Phular Surabhi was launched, with muhurat by well-known actor Indra Bania. The function was attended by distinguished artistes, technicians and prominent citizens. Noted film director Dara Ahmed is the director of the organisation, while Deepak Kalita is the chairman-cum-managing director.
 
Ranga Pathin
 Ranga Pathin is a souvenir brought out on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the Hajong Sanskritik Sangathan recently. The souvenir contains a number of valuable articles on the art, literature and culture of the Hajong community. Incidentally, ranga means red and pathin means a traditional garment used by Hajong women. The subjects of the articles include Hajong society, Hajong language, the introduction of the Hajong tribe, folk culture and music of the Hajongs, etc. All the features are worth reading as one can have a glimpse of various aspects of the tribe. Hajong Sanskritik Sangathan was founded twenty five years back by three youths – Ratan Kumar Ray Hajong (well-known painter and poet), Naren Hajong and Nirmal Hajong. The Sangathan has been playing a significant role in creating awareness among people about the traditions and folk culture of the tribe since its inception. The organisation has been showcasing folk dances and songs in various stages of the State and at national level programmes. Presently, the Sangathan, headed by Ratan Kumar Ray Hajong, has taken up various schemes to propagate Hajong culture.
 
Arangetram four-some
 Sanjukta Saikia, Priya Bhatacharya, Pallavi Banik and Priyanka Dutta – four students of Bharat Natyam dance, who passed out from Antara Kala Kendra of Nagaon, headed by well-known dance exponent Mandira Bhattacharya, recently performed arangetram or manch-pravesh. They were acknowledged and blessed by celebrated Bharat Natyam exponent Saroja Baidyanathan. All the upcoming dancers learnt under the tutelege of Mandira Bhattacharya since their childhood. Sanjukta and Priya are also well-versed in singing. The performances by the four budding dancers enthralled the audience for two hours. Meanwhile, the function also marked the occasion of the completion of twenty years of Antara Kala Kendra.
