Innovation and creativity are the trademarks of this Guwahati-based institute of fashion and allied technology. Being a designer is easy, but being creative and imaginative also requires dedication and sincerity which are hallmarks of the products of this institute and thanks to the sheer professionalism of its faculty, these two traits come naturally to the students, encouraging them to do something special and stand on their own feet.

This innovation and creativity of JD Institute of Fashion Technology came to the fore at its annual exhibition-cum-sale, Imprints 2009, held during the December-end. The second edition of this annual event that showcases fashion garments, home furnishing, costume jewelleries, etc, designed and created by the students, was inaugurated by NC Dey, managing director of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Guwahati. The exhibition-cum-sale, which continued for three days, was a testimony to the fact that JDians were not lagging behind their counterparts in other parts of the country as well as abroad, rightly gauging the varied tastes of the fashion world, while learning to flow with the contemporary styles.

This Imprints 2009, the JDians tried to present themselves in a different manner. Challenging and adventurous themes like ‘Winter Evening’, ‘Jungle’, ‘Bridal’, ‘Christmas’, ‘Colours’, ‘Femi-9’, etc were put up in different stalls that drew huge attention of fashion aficionados. Each stall was decorated according to the theme and every handmade product was exhibited by these creative minds in an aesthetic manner.

What’s more, the students have worked to give a complete new look to one’s wardrobe and home. The displays included a wide range of dress materials, cushion covers, fancy stoles, kurtas, dinner table mats, colourful decorative paintings, paper bags, artificial flowers, murals, and various other things to cater to one’s individual taste and choice. Then there were eye-catching creations from the students of interior design wing. These included designs of various furniture models like utility unit, sofa, coffee table, bed, dressing table, etc. The unique creativity too of the jewellery department was no less. The young designers-in-the-making came up with displays like earrings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces, etc that can bring glow to any female figure.

All under one roof, from matching accessories to garments, furnishing items to home accessories, Imprints 2009 was an experience by itself for everyone who likes to be in fashion and style.
