
| Rongpuror Dhulia A Bihu-based video film titled Rongpuror Dhulia was recently released under the banner of NR Production, its maiden venture. With story, screenplay, and dialogue by Rama Barman, music by Anupam Saikia and Mousam Gogoi, the video is directed and edited by Aninda Kashyap. Bipul Das is the cameraman. Produced by Naba Deka and Rubul Kalita, the video film features Jayanta Bhagawati, Rahul Das, Siddhartha Mukherjee, Arup Baishya, Rubul Kalita, Pulak Goswami, Bhabesh Goswami, Shyamolima Das, Achyut Baishya, Junika, Juli among others, while singers Zubeen Garg, Barnali Kalita, Mousam Gogoi and Dikshu, have lent their voice for the songs. |
| Morom released After gaining immense popularity for Aaimoni and Moinajan, Maina Cooperative Society of Dergaon has presented its latest video film Morom. The concept and the planning are by cultural activist Nurul Sultan. It is directed by Jodumoni Dutta, with script and dialogue by Mridul KumarBora. Palash Gogoi and Jayanta Sonowal have scored the music, with songs by Zubeen Garg, Dikshu, Chayanika and Jublee. The romantic lead roles are played by Aaimee Barua and Nayan Nilim. Other two major roles are enacted by the versatile Arun Hazarika and Dilip Ranjan Dutta. They are supported by Rina Bora, Pallavi Kalita, Devashree Thakur, Ashim Saikia, Jadumoni Dutta and child artiste Parinandhi Jima Sultan. The video was released by Haidar Hussain, editor, Asomiya Pratidin, and playwright-director Munin Barua, at a function in Guwahati on December 28. |
| Album Barasha Barasha, an album of modern songs by singer-lyricist Baran Bikash, is going to be released during Bhogali Bihu. All the eight songs of the album are written, composed and rendered by the singer. The music arrangements are by Shekhar, Pranjal and Dipkesh. A video film with the same title will also be released soon. Baran Bikash’s audio album Bihute Bolia Mon (second part) is also going to hit the stands shortly. His video album Kuhipat is nearing completion. Baran Bikash is hopeful about his presentations. His earlier album Kanehan was popular. |
| SR Film Institute With a view to imparting training in filmcraft, a new institute is being launched in the name of SR Film Institute, in Guwahati. The inaugural function was held recently at Rudra Barua auditorium of Jyoti Chitraban, Guwahati, with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by writer Dr Padmapani, in the presence of a distinguished gathering, that included Dinesh Das, station director, AIR, Guwahati, Abinash Sarma, joint director, Cultural Affairs, Jones Moholia, Dinesh Das, Arunlochan Das and others. The speakers stressed on the importance of systematic learning in filmmaking. The subjects include acting, direction, screenplay writing, cinematography, editing, choreography, art direction, makeup, costume design, dance, anchoring and news reading. The syllabus also includes swimming, car driving, martial art and yoga. The classes will start from January 20. | Poems in audio CD Megh, an audio CD carrying Assamese modern poems by Bijiyeta, recently appeared in the market. A real treat to the lovers of poetry, the CD has compositions of Girish Patgiri and Nalini Das. The poems are suitably recited by Sameer, Chandana Sarma, Kabita Patgiri and Mayuri Dutta, with background music by Dikshu. Rodor Rong, a song penned by Bijiyeta and rendered by Dikshu, has added extra appeal to the CD. Incidentally, Bijiyeta has also made a mark as an actress, portraying various roles in plays directed by Rabijita Gogoi, Baharul Islam and Naren Patgiri. She also has a good number of popular lyrics to her credit. Birinar Majote, Debadaru, Barasun — the songs written by her for albums Champion and Debadaru, are praiseworthy. Megh could draw much attention at the recently concluded North East Book Fair. |
| Gobardhan Charit Tarun Saikia’s popular radio-play Gobordhan Charit is being made into digital film soon. With script by Prabhat Goswami and directed by Jayanta Goswami, the lead roles are being enacted by Jayanta Goswami and Barnali Pujari, while the other artistes include Ananda Mohan Bhagawati, Gyanendra Pallav, Bhola Saikia, Prabhat Goswami and Deepa Goswami. The music would be scored by Loknath Goswami. The film’s mahurat was held on Tuesday, Guwahati. |
| Meghali released Bihu-based video album Meghali, 2010, produced by singer-lyricist-music director CS Shiva, under the banner of Shiva Production, recently hit the stands. The cassette and CD, containing 11 songs, also been released along with the video. Film is directed by Ghanashyam Kalita his own story and script, and dialogue Pankajyoti Bhuyan. The cast includes Mahanta, Rina Bora and Dipshikha Barua, supported by others. Choreographed Bapa Ahmed Udayashan Meghali has a number of well known singers like Bhitali Das, Subasana Dutta, Chayanika Bhuyan and CS Shiva. Lyrics for a song has written by poet Hiren Bhattacharya. Other lyrics are by CS Shiva, Jayanta Sonowal, Nehal and Mantumoni. Shiva is also planning to launch a feature film soon. |
