Humility hint
The other day at the mega function billed ‘A Tribute to Assamese Music’, organized by FM Radio Gup-Chup 94.3, living legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika was felicitated for his contibution in the field of music, art and culture through which he has carved a very special niche for himself as well as Assamese music in the world scenario.

And it was only appropriate that Assam Governer Shiv Charan Mathur was invited to honour Bhupenda. But the pleasant surprise for all, including connoisseurs in every field present in the frunction as also those who witnessed the coverage in media, to see the honourable Governor in Mathur bowing down and touching the knees of Dr Hazarika as a gesture of genuine recognition to the immense talents of the maestro which got reflected through his creations in music, literature, films and as a people’s representative in Assembly.

It was so nice on the part of the first citizen of the state to publicly salute Dr Hazarika in his own preferred way that only reflects his humility so essential for a highly cultured and developed society. Mathur, through the gesture, showed to the world that even the highest official position cannot be a hindrance to honour a deserving personality genuinely — like the way the Governer did that evening.

Taking wings
CEC, a frontrunner in professional studies in the Northeast, offering courses in computers, fashion designing, journalism and hospitality industry, recently conducted a special inflight training for the students of its airlines division in association with Kingfisher Airlines, the only 5-star airliner of India. The training began with a special session about the airport proceedings at the LGB International Airport at Borjhar, Guwahati. The students then attended a practical session onboard a Kingfisher plane.

The second lag of their training project included the rich heritage of Orissa where the students visited some important tourist destinations like Konark, Puri, Nandan Kanan, etc. The concluding lag was a project on Kolkata where they visited Science City, Victoria Memorial and other notable sites to garner project data.

Under the supervision of CEC president Dipankar Dutta and the faculty of CEC airlines division, the aspiring students must have gathered valuable inputs and insights about the airlines as well as tourism industries to fulfil their dreams of becoming a part of the flourishing industries.
