Jnan Singh

AMGURI, Feb 6 – Jnan Singh, a co-worker of Bishnu Prasad Rabha and late ex-MLA of Amguri Khagen Borboruah, died on February 3 at his own residence of Borahibari near Amguri. He was 75. He was bed-ridden since a few months. He was ex-secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Party of India, State Committee and also ex-secretaryof Assam Tribal Association. He was born in Borkala village of Simaluguri region under Sivasagar district in 1933. He was an earnest social worker, writer and a master of a few languages. He was a freedom fighter too but after independence he joined RCPI and remained as a member till his death. He leaves behind his wife,two sons, a daughter, daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
Amal Ch Baruah
GUWAHATI, Feb 6 – Amal Chandra Baruah, resident of Rajgarh Road, Chandmari, Guwahati, expired at Downtown Hospital following a brief illness on February 5. He was 75. Born to renowned family of Deshapran Lakshmidhar Sharma, he was the third son of freedom fighter Late Girish Chandra Sarma Baruah and Late Purneswari Devi of Bhir Gaon, Biswanath Chariali. He graduated in engineering from Institute of Technology of Banaras Hindu University after studying at Chariali High School and Cotton College. He served as the 1st chief engineer of GMDA, additional chief engineer of PWD, Assam he was also IIM, Bangalore trained management expert and consultant and Course Director of AASC, Guwahati. He left behind his wife Dr Reeta Baruah, son Dr Ayushman Baruah and two daughters – Atreyee Goswami and Archita Bhattacharyya – in addition to a host of family members.

GOLAGHAT, Feb 6 – Arun Kalita, a prominent artist of Golaghat died at his own residence here on February 1 last. He was 90. He was a renowned artist of the district. He was honoured for his achievements by several organisations over the years. He was associated with several socio-cultural organisations. He leaves behind six daughters and seven sons. His death was widely mourned.
B Choudhury
GUWAHATI, Feb 6 – Bhargav Choudhury, an eminent lawyer of Uzanbazar area passed away on February 4 night. He was 64. He was the youngest son of late Sarta Choudhury and a grandson of great poet Raghunath Choudhury. He was a very polite and cheerful man and there never was any hint of pride in his behaviour. He leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
