
| Adda short film fest The short film festival organised by Adda at Rabindra Bhawan on December 10, showcased human emotions, joys and sorrows and the agony and the ecstasy, sometimes in the way of life and sometimes under the shadow of terror and bloodshed. The films made by new young directors hold promise and hope for the future. In brief, it was inspiring. Adda definitely deserves praise for giving city film lovers an opportunity to witness and appreciate the creations of the upcoming film makers and also providing them a platform. Altogether, 39 films were screened, including a few foreign ones. Special mention may be made here of Evolution by Jiten Das, A Drop of Golden Sun by Antara GG Chowdhury, Red To Black by Kripal Kalita and Nirab Sristi (The silent creation) by the students of AIMCMR. Some directors of the selected films were awarded certificates, which included Jiten Das, Antara GG Chowdhury, Manab (DJ), Anindya Kashyap, Tutul Madhab, Chinmoy Phukan, Rima Das, Dr Rupam Bodo, Chandrasekhar Das, Anupam Bharadwaj, Mitali Barua and Mallika Saikia.A magazine titled Adda, edited by Amarjyoti Deka and published by Balindrajit Pathak, containing valuable articles, was also brought out on the occasion. While inaugurating the event, noted film critic – journalist Apurba Sarma appreciated the endeavour of the organisers. At the outset, prominent film personalities and members of the jury – Bidyut Chakravarty, Nayan Prasad and Dr Santwana Bordoloi – were felicitated by the organisers. Incidentally, the festival was organised for the fifth year by Adda, an organisation comprising a number of youths with an objective to promote good cinema, in the true sense of the term. |
| Papori released LP Films’ second offering –Papori, a video film, was recently released at a function held on the occasion by reputed journalist Chandan Sarma. The story of the Bihu-based film is written by Pradip Deka, while the screenplay is by Prabhat Goswami. Noted director Rajesh Bhuyan has directed the film with camera work by Bichu. The choreography is by Uday Shankar Dutta and Bappa Ahmed. The cast includes Nipon Goswami, Arun Hazarika, Madhurima Goswami, Shyamantika Sarma, Pradip Deka, Nilakshi Sarma, Julious, Dipa Goswami, Indrani Chetia and others. Incidentally, Nilakshi Sarma appears for the last time in the film and the album is dedicated in her name. Meanwhile, the album has been able to draw the attention of the viewers. The film is jointly produced by Pradip Deka and Raju Rabha. |
| Rupahi Ronge Doi A new video film titled Rupahi Ronge Doi, directed by Munna Ahmed, is set for release soon. With a storyline which is simple and identifiable to all, Rupahi Ronge Doi revolves around the love of Shyamantika Sarma and Raag Oinitam, and the adamant attitude of his father Jayanta Bhagawati, not to bring her as their daughter-in-law. Produced under the banner of Manji Tamanna by Bornali Dutta, the film has story, screenplay and dialogue by Dipak Gogoi. The others in the cast include Atul Pachani, Dinesh Bisoya, Arup Baishya, Asha Bordoloi, Beauty Das Bora, Bornali Dutta, Joli Bora and Ananya Pachani. |
| Moi Kiyo Likhu Moi Kiyo Likhu, a short film based on the writings of celebrated writer Homen Borgohain, was selected for the professional category of Twilight ’08 – a national film festival held at New Delhi from December 11 to 15. The competition and exhibition of films are held as a part of the Delhi International Arts Festival. The festival was held at Alliance Desies and the India Islamic Cultural Centre. The festival has been organised since last year and has been acknowledged at the national level. Altogether 56 films have been selected for two categories, namely, professional category and student category. Moi Kiyo Likhu is produced under the banner of Rupkar Cine Enterprise and produced by Prantik Deka. Upcoming director Pradyut Kumar Deka has directed the film. Ratul Boro is the cinematographer, while Ankur Bishaya has edited the film. |
