
| Docu for Dhaka fest A documentary titled A Short Film About Walking has been selected for the 11th Dhaka International Film Festival to be held from January 14 to 22, 2010. The theme is based on an article by writer Homen Borgohain. The script and direction is by Pradyut Kumar Deka. The film is produced by Devashish Goswami under the banner of Manjushree Production. The photography is by Nahid Ahmed and the narration is by Nayan Prasad. Altogether 200 feature and documentary films from 30 countries will be screened in the Dhaka festival. A Short Film About Walking has been included among nine short films from India. Incidentally, 68 short films from all over the world have been selected. |
| Bihu album Sarubhani Sarubhani is an appealing album with a Mising Bihu flavour. The songs are written, composed and sung by Tarulata Kutum, popularly known as ‘Mising Queen’ in her native Dhemaji. The title song is rendered by Zubeen Garg, while in some other songs Tarulata is supported by Tushar Arjun, Jinti Das and Montumoni. All the songs are a real treat to the ears, with music arrangement by Bhadrakanta Das. Produced by Pintu Dey, the album was released recently by Dr Akashitora at the Guwahati Press Club in the presence of Apurba Kumar Das, Damodar Sarma and Montu Saikia as guests of honour. |
| Book on love stories Here is a book with a difference. Hepahor Jonaki Jowan, penned by young journalist-writer Gogonastam contains the love lives of popular personalities of film, theatre, music and literature. They are Biju Phukan, Malaya Goswami, Anuradha Sarma Pujari, Zubeen Garg, Arun Hazarika, Nilim Kumar, Prastuti Parashar, Angarag Mahanta, Dr Akashitora, Mridul Bhuyan, Barnali Kalita and Raag Oinitam. Like the book, its release function on December 13 at the North East Book Fair also wore a different colour. The book was released by a team of writers and journalists that included Kapil Thakur, Bidyut Kumar Bhuyan, Apurba Kumar Das, Mantu Saikia, Damodar Sarma, Uzzal Bora and Prashanta Bora. Songs by Tarulata, poem recitation by Morom Kumar and Bhaswati Bhuyan, and compering by Kumud Das made the occasion memorable. |
| Jonbair Desh A new Assamese feature film– Jonbair Desh, is under production. It is directed by Rajani Barma with his own story, script and dialogue, under the banner of Bishnu Production. The shooting is presently going on in and around Guwahati, with camerawork by Dinesh Thakkar of Mumbai. Diganta Bharati has directed the music, with his own lyrics. The songs are rendered by Zubeen Garg and Tarali Sarma. The art direction is by Nuruddin Ahmed. Karabi Bora has produced the film, with planning by Debabrata Bora. The chief patrons of the project are Radha Bora and Abu Taher Ahmed. The cast includes Jatin Bora, Barsharani Bishaya, Bishnu Khagharia, Dinesh Das, Hiranya Das, Hiranya Deka, Paul Phukan, Debojit Mazumdar, Barnali Pujari, Pranjana Dutta, child artiste Subham Deka and others. |
| Rib Rib Malaya A VCD carrying eight modern songs by Kabita Talukdar, produced by Jayanta Barua, was released recently. Ramesh Das has rendered one song. The songs are written and tuned by Gautam Sarma, Banjit Sarma, Apurba Bezbaruah, Kalpana Bhuyan, Benudhar Kalita, Pranabiram Barua, Lohit Hazarika and JP Das. A reputed singer of modern classical, folk and Borgeet, Kabita has two audio cassettes – Gondhar Safura and Hriday, to her credit. She had also earned laurels in B Barooah College and Gauhati University as a student. The artistes in the VCD include Pankhi, Purnima, Rakesh, Pranjit and others. |
| Book of superhit songs Abook of popular songs from films, gramophone records, audio cassettes and CDs, numbering 115, recently hit the stands. The book, compiled by film journalist Arunlochan Das, has been published by Deben Kalita of Rekha Prakashan, Guwahati. The book has covered songs of both senior and junior artistes. |
